Senior Full-Stack Engineer, Web Platform
- Location
- Las Vegas, NV · Hybrid
- Type
- Full-time or Contract
- Compensation
- Founding-team equivalent + equity
About the role
Amplibotics is building the infrastructure for robots that learn from people. Our platform connects remote human pilots to physical robots anywhere in the world. A pilot opens a browser, is matched to a robot workcell, and drives it in real time, with multi-camera video streaming in and control commands streaming out at the responsiveness of a local connection. Every session is captured as structured training data that feeds our vision-language-action models, and those models then drive the robots themselves while human supervisors watch and take over when needed.
We are looking for a senior engineer to own the Amplibotics Web Platform. The Web Platform is the connective tissue between our high-performance robot control pipelines and everything a person actually touches. It authenticates and authorizes users, matches pilots to hardware, brokers real-time sessions, and serves the data behind every screen in the product. Your mandate is to grow it into a unified, scalable API layer that supports 1,000+ concurrent users with high reliability and low latency.
This is a hands-on role with real architectural authority. You will make the design decisions, set the engineering quality bar, and review the work that goes into the product. You will be the person junior engineers learn from, and the person the team trusts to say whether something is ready to ship.
What you will work with
- TypeScript
- Node.js / Express
- Python / FastAPI
- Next.js / React
- PostgreSQL
- Redis
- WebRTC
- Auth0
- Google Cloud Platform
- Docker
- Turborepo
- GitHub Actions
Key responsibilities
- 01Architect the unified API layer. Consolidate fragmented services behind coherent, versioned contracts, and design for the load and latency the product will need a year from now.
- 02Build real-time communication that holds up. Own WebRTC signaling and session authority, along with the multiplexed WebSocket channels carrying presence, matchmaking, and telemetry between browsers, robots, and inference servers.
- 03Run the matchmaking and job queuing systems that connect a global pool of pilots to physical hardware, including the session state, reconnection, and failure handling that makes a remote session feel local.
- 04Own the data model. Design and evolve relational schemas, migrations, and query performance for a multi-tenant system carrying real production traffic.
- 05Implement authentication and authorization for secure multi-org access: Auth0, role-based access control, and row-level security enforced at the database.
- 06Build performant frontend interfaces in Next.js and React that stay responsive under high-frequency real-time data.
- 07Instrument and operate what you build. Define latency and reliability budgets, measure them, and hold the system to them.
- 08Raise the bar. Review code, strengthen test coverage and CI/CD, and mentor junior engineers toward strong software engineering practice.
- 09Work across disciplines. Partner daily with the robotics, ML, hardware, and operations engineers who depend on your interfaces.
Requirements
- 5+ years building and operating production-grade systems and web services. Not just shipping features, but owning what happens after they ship.
- Expert-level TypeScript and Node.js/Express, with proficiency in Python (FastAPI).
- Strong experience building REST APIs. Versioned, well-documented contracts that other teams and clients can build against with confidence.
- Architectural depth. Demonstrated experience with system design, microservices, and transitioning monolithic or fragmented services into unified architectures.
- Hands-on low-latency streaming with WebSockets, Socket.io, or WebRTC. You have debugged a real-time system that was slow and made it fast.
- Relational database design and management at scale. Strong SQL and data modeling, with production experience backing systems that serve many concurrent users. Comfort with complex relational models and low-latency stores like Redis.
- Cloud and DevOps fluency. S3-like object storage, cloud compute and networking, and modern CI/CD pipelines. Google Cloud Platform in particular is a plus.
- Advanced authentication and authorization workflows, ideally including multi-tenant organization management.
- Next.js and React, with a genuine standard for frontend performance.
- Testing discipline across both backend and frontend.
- Clear communication. You can explain a design tradeoff to a robotics engineer, an ML researcher, and a founder in the same meeting, and you review other people's code in a way that makes them better engineers.
Nice to have
- Experience in gaming, high-frequency trading, or IoT and physical systems, domains where low-latency performance is existential.
- Auth systems on security-critical, multi-org products.
- A background in robotics, teleoperation, or real-time control systems.
- Experience with AI modeling and model-serving pipelines.
- Large-scale data pipelines and the tooling around them.
- Strong UX instincts and an eye for elegant, visually polished interfaces.
Location and compensation
This is a hybrid role based at our Las Vegas office. We are open to fully remote arrangements for truly exceptional candidates.
Compensation equivalent to founding team, equity negotiable. Increased compensation available on future fundraising.
Why join us
- Own a system that real robots and real pilots depend on every day.
- Work where web infrastructure, robotics, and applied AI meet, with all three disciplines in the same building.
- A small team with high trust and a short distance from a decision to production.
- Founded 2025, backed by a team with a successful exit in robotics.
Apply
Send us your resume along with something you have built that you are proud of. If there is a system you designed, scaled, or rescued, that is the one we want to hear about.
